This program can be taken alone or as part of our 300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Certification. Pavones Yoga Center is a yoga teaching school registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200- and 300-hour level.
Yin yoga is a deceptively simple practice. We take a form and then resolve to stay in it for minutes, usually anywhere from three to eight, allowing the deep fascia that surrounds and interweaves muscles to be therapeutically and gently stretched and made more pliable. From the outside, it can appear as if nothing's going on. At the end of a four minute dragon pose, you'll know this to be untrue. Yin yoga is about going beyond the visible. Yin yoga carries us into the subtle realm of fascia, connective tissue, and to the invisible neural and energetic network that interweaves all living systems. A deeply healing practice, yin yoga teaches us to be with what is. When we let go of resistance, sometimes by releasing physical, mental or emotional baggage, our lives become more fluid and easeful.
August 5 - 15, 2018
This yoga teacher certification begins on the evening of the program's start date and ends on the evening of the program's end date. Plan to depart from Pavones Yoga Center on the morning after the program's posted end date.
Yin Yoga at Pavones Yoga Center
This yoga teacher training immersion is your gateway into the world of yin yoga. Whether you are a complete novice, or you've been taking yin classes for years and are interested in understanding what makes yin yoga so powerful, the program's content is designed to be accessible and intriguing to all levels of yoga students and teachers. Yoga teachers interested in incorporating yin into their teaching schedules will take home valuable tools for class themes, sequencing of postures, anatomy and safety.
This program is open to anyone — you do not need to be a yoga teacher to take The Fundamentals of Yin Yoga.
If you are taking this course for your advanced 300-hour or 500-hour certification, a 200‐hour certification of graduation from a Yoga Alliance accredited school is required.
What To Bring
- A journal or notebook and a pen
- A favorite poem or piece of prose
- A clock or time-keeping device (we love the Enso brand Zen clock) or timer app on your phone
- Engage your curiosity. What is energy? How does energy move? How does yoga (yin or yang) interface with energy?
- Be analytic. You'll learn to use the four tenets of yin and the three focal points to remain grounded in the safest form of practice.
- Awaken your student-mind. Take home four distinct yin yoga sequences and tools for creating an infinite variety of well-balanced personal classes.
- Forge new & unseen relationships. Study Chinese meridians in terms of their similarity to fascial lines (myofascial meridian trains) in connective tissue.
- Explore. What is healing? How does a yoga practice work to bring healing and balance into daily life?
What to Expect
All Pavones Yoga Center teacher trainings are offered in residential retreat style. Accommodations, meals, yoga classes, and training sessions all take place onsite.
Due to our limited time together, we will follow a schedule of nine hours of class time per day. But there is a five hour period of built-in relaxation time each day for you to explore the tropical beach and jungle paradise in which this course unfolds. This yoga certification program also combines various experiences in nature as a way to deepen your connection to the earth and to inspire the sense of awe and natural curiosity that foster healthy learning. Whenever possible, our training experience follows the rhythms and cycles of nature, for example by celebrating new beginnings on the new moon and allowing time for meditative practices on the full moon. By being on nature's schedule you will find an increased ability to heal, transform and grow.
I really could not be more pleased with my decision to take my yoga teacher training there. Even with programs all over the globe: You will not be disappointed here!!

Pavones Yoga Center is a registered Yoga Alliance accredited school at both the 200-hour and 300-hour levels.
By combining the two certificates, our graduates are able to become certified at the 500-hour level, the highest accredited level of yoga teaching based on Yoga Alliance standards. The hours of this program can be divided into the following categories with mandatory hours as listed (in compliance with standards set by Yoga Alliance). If you are taking this course for Yoga Alliance certification you will need to attend all classes in order to comply with the number of contact hours required by Yoga Alliance.
This training is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in yoga inquiry. Our Pavones Yoga Center training is unique in that we limit our group size (to a maximum of 12 students in The Fundamentals Of Yin yoga teacher training) so that each student is able to fulfill her or his own personal goals for a yoga teacher training and to receive direct personal feedback about the gifts already being embodied and the next steps toward growth as a yoga teacher. This provides a deeply individualized learning experience.
We hold that the health and wellbeing of earth and humans are inextricably linked; environmental issues are a sign of faltering human psychology and spiritual maturity, and human psycho-emotional illness is in direct proportion to the sickness of the natural world. Our exploration into the field of Eco-psychology will directly address how a contemplative practice of yoga can shape and support an emerging sense of wholeness and deep personal wellbeing. Most fun of all, a portion of our training is dedicated to direct experiences with nature as a way to foster the natural "being in the present moment" awareness that is the 'aim' of yoga.
