The Anatomy of The Self is a ten-day yoga teacher training that can be taken as part of the 500-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training or as a way to deepen your understanding of yoga for your own personal practice. During our time together, we will study physical anatomy as it relates to safety and in-depth proper alignment in most standing and some seated asanas. Together we will create graduated sequences that can help your students to stay inspired with the physical posture practice of yoga. This course is a deep-dive into the fire element and Manipura chakra. Since the time of our ancestors, fire has played a central role in transformational inner journeys and has literally been the centerpiece to groups coming together in ritual and ceremony. Manipura chakra is the seat of the self, known in the Japanese tradition as Hara, it is the place out of which we develop our personality and ego. A healthy ego is absolutely necessary for optimal living on the planet. How to balance ego with the yogic concept of non-attachment to form and freedom from self? During our time together we will explore how to embrace this paradox. We will learn posture and breath practices that specifically stoke and build the fire element and strengthen Manipura chakra. The Anatomy of The Self delves into the untamed dimensions of our human nature and encourages a shedding of layers of cultural conditioning in order for the most joyful and unconditioned aspects of ourselves to emerge.
